Get ready for a stress-free Christmas

If your list of New Year’s resolutions begins with ‘become a homeowner’, then congratulations! Buying or building a new home is a big step, it’s true, but it’s also a super exciting one. To help ensure you start off on the right foot, take a moment to consider these important points.

Turkey, seafood, pavlova and backyard cricket. Whilst everyone has different festive traditions, we can all agree an Australian Christmas is like no other. It’s a time for family and friends to come together and celebrate, and this year, it might just be in your new Eden Brae home.

Here are some tips for running a stellar Christmas party without bogging yourself down with chores, ensuring you’ll get to enjoy your day at the table with family and friends.

Leave the grand tour for another time

If anyone understands the temptation, it’s us, but resist giving every guest the guided tour of your new home. As much as we also love talking taps and tiles at Eden Brae, Christmas is the time to sit back in your new space and accept the compliments as they flow in. Guests will be quite happy to wander about on their own and marvel at your beautiful new home.

Go disposable

As much as Nana might like you to, a big Christmas lunch isn’t the time to bust out the family silverware. Disposable, biodegradable plates and cups are the order of the day and make for easy, eco-friendly disposal later.

Take a page from the North Pole

You can never have too much ice. Place large tubs and eskies of ice strategically around your home for easy access to cool drinks. Tubs can be bought for next to nothing from hardware stores and pay for themselves by freeing up fridge space.

Take any help you can get

An integral part of an Australian Christmas is togetherness and contributing to the feast. Say yes to anyone who offers a plate, bowl or tray of delicious goods or can rush off to the servo to get more mixers. People love to lend a helping hand, which keeps costs reasonable and lets you enjoy hosting.
